Society
Two faces of the
Mindorenos, two groups with so much difference, two sets of citizens in the
eyes of the world and one society…these are the products of the history over
time. Mangyans in tribes living up the mountains of Mindoro and the civilized
Mindorenos, technologically and industrially open to the new world; they are
the two sets of people inhabiting the Province, making its society intriguing
and interesting.
( Lifestyle of Mangyans )
Moving on, it is easy for a person to distinguish
whether a person is from the mountains or from the city. Mangyans wear bahag
and clothes which they weaved themselves, with specks of dirt and dust
all-over, physical features such as teeth having the color of reddish brown,
with dark complexion and curly hair. Civilized citizens are well, what we
actually see around us, they are the norm. Between these two groups of people,
there has been believed to have a gap, a large difference; the other one is
more important and great than the other. That is how society views the two.
Think of every single detail about these Mindorenos
and your eyes will be opened to the vast equality evident between them. The two
faces of a Mindoreno have their own fields of expertise and greatness.
Moreover, what the other one has is so much being tried to become available to
the other like education, lifestyle and etc.
The Mangyans from the mid-mountain ranges of
Ormin have a rich culture which is continuously being respected and kept alive,
have traditions being taught to their new generations and va a peaceful and
green lands Meanwhile, the urban people of Ormin, especially the Calapenos are
on the verge of reaching success in the battle of industrialization, getting
more information and and practicing in technology. Society must see these
importance.
Education of Mangyans
Ako
Mangyan! Ako edukado!
“Isa, dalawa, tatlo, ey, bi, si, di…” Even a man of full of
education would find in his heart a pleasure to be uplifted upon hearing a
child pronounce the very first thing he learned on the very first of his
schooling.
Every
child deserves a school that makes alphabet and numbers known. Even tribes of
rareness as the Mangyans, we Mindoreños are proud of, are enlightened to
Education. Eagerness and the will of belongingness make it all
possible to fuel up the Mangyans for learning and enhancing knowledge the way
ordinary kids do. But unlike these ordinary kids, Mangyans strive for everyday
problems as distant walking, river-crossing, and many are regards with
finances. But these are how they’re empowered to pursue studying and gain the
enthusiasm to learn something new, so as to make the worth out of difficulties.
It is for Education is a worth of wealth for every Mangyan.
Love and Marriage of the Alangans
It is a story that may not be too pleasant, but
one that is repeated all too often: teenage pregnancy.
Some 16.5 million Filipinos belong to the 15-24 year old age group. We are forced with a glaring truth that at a very young age, a lot of young people today have children of their own. 30 % of all births belong to this age group; and by the age of 20, 25% of the youth are already mothers.
Meanwhile, Mangyans are included on this 25%. We cannot blame them for education has been eradicated form them. As a result, lack of knowledge about the effects of early pregnancy. But what we must be proud of about these Mangyans are their strong family ties. Although almost buried in the mud due to poverty, these Mangyans still give importance to the life in their wombs.
Compared to the civilized teen mothers, Mangyan pregnancies carry extra health risks to the mother and the baby. Often, mangyans don't receive timely prenatal care, and they have a higher risk for pregnancy-related high blood pressure and its complications. Risks for the baby include premature birth and a low birthweight. These are the reasons why we need to provide extra care to Mangyan mothers.
Pregnancy is a gift. The baby is a miracle, a great gift and treasure from God. Pregnancy is not a sin neither a crime. It is merely a result of a consummated relationship; pregnancy may not be planned by man but has long been laid out in the perfect plan of our Creator. Let us all lay our hearts and hands to these worthy Mangyans who is in need for guidance.
